Aussie Epilepsy Research
Study
The Aussie Epilepsy Research study at the University
of Minnesota has been extended to March 2011. Dr. Ned
Patterson is running additional Aussies samples using
more powerful SNP Chips. Blood samples from affected
dogs are still needed. If you have a dog that has been
diagnosed with idiopathic (primary) epilepsy please send
in a blood sample from your dog. Blood samples from dogs
10+ years old that have never had a seizure are also
needed to serve as controls. For information,
instructions and forms to submit a blood sample and/or
for information to make a donation to support the
research, please see below. If you can help us by
running a fundraiser or if you would like brochures to
distribute please let us know. Thank you.

D.A.W.G. Walk and Pet
Faire The Dedicated Animal Welfare Group
(D.A.W.G.) is commited to providing medical care and
helping hands to comfort sick, injured, and frightened
animals that come into shelters in the Mission Viejo and
Laguna Niguel areas until they can be reunited with
their families or, in the event they have been
abandoned, adopted to new families.
We were
invited to participate in the annual Walk and Pet Faire
and For Toby’s foundation it was an opportunity to tell
people about canine epilepsy and what they can do to
help stop the disease and to join in the fight. It was a
fun day for a good cause with a great turnout.
Approximitely 175-200 people stopped by our booth and
were very interested in our work and asked questions
about canine epilepsy. A donor donated $500 in giveaway
items to increase awareness of Toby's Foundation and the
fight against canine epilepsy.
